So, this, I hope, will be a semi-regular thing I do. I'll try to watch new anime as it comes out, and review it here! Even better will be that I try to read the associated manga (if available), and compare the two to suggest better stuff. This will be cool, right?
The World God Only Knows
First up, I'll say watch The World God Only Knows. Yeah, I know, I keep ranting about this one, but really, it is absolutely excellent in every way, shape and form that an anime can be.
The main character of the series is Keima Katsuragi (guy on the cover above). He plays a lot of galge (gal games or dating sims), and is so good that he calls himself the Capturing God. This brings about confusion when a young devil named Elsee believes him to be an actual God, and that he can "capture" real girls.
She contracts him to capture loose souls from the cracked hearts of girls, and thus hilarity ensues. Are real girls as good as the ideal girls from games? Is the real world worth paying attention to? These are the questions that run through Keima's mind as he completes his mission.
The anime was actually released about seven weeks ago, and is released weekly. I learned about it from around chapter 100 of the manga, and have been waiting for it for a while. I have to admit that both the manga AND the anime are excellent, and is both worth reading AND watching. Luckily, the manga isn't being ignored as the anime is released, and is still released weekly as well.
It's really interesting because the plot and characters are VASTLY different from the usual stuff manga and anime give us. There are many cliche moments, of course, but those are overridden by excellent dialogue and character interactions.
I say read it all. I say watch it all. The anime is released on AnimeTake on Wednesdays at around 5:00 PM. The manga is released on Mondays or Tuesdays, usually, though that varies as well. The manga can be found in its entirety on MangaFox.
